Candidates-Forum

Chamber and BACPAC to Hold Candidate Forums in September 
Your BACPAC (Business and Community Political Action Committee) is currently planning its candidate forums for the fall elections.  BACPAC will be hosting forums for those candidates seeking office for the Tri City Healthcare District Board of Directors, MiraCosta College Board of Trustees, the Oceanside Unified School District and the Oceanside City Council.  Have questions for the candidates on an issue important to you and your business, email the Oceanside Chamber. 

Also, be sure to join us in-person at MiraCosta College on September 11th at 5:00 pm for the Oceanside Unified School District forum and 6:30 pm for the Oceanside City Council forum and on September 18th at 5:00 pm for the MiraCosta Board of Trustees forum and at 6:30 pm for the forum with the candidates for the Tri City Healthcare Districts.  Refreshments will be served before each forum. Read More

Author Seeks Reconsideration of ‘Job Killer’ Bill Increasing Tax Rate
(Source: www.CalChamber.com) The author of a “job killer” bill significantly increasing the corporate income tax rate is seeking reconsideration of the proposal after amending it just days before the end of the legislative session.

The California Chamber of Commerce opposes SB 1372 (DeSaulnier; D-Concord) because it threatens to significantly increase the corporate tax rate on publicly held corporations and financial institutions up to 15% according to the wages paid to employees in the United States, and threatens to increase that rate by 50% thereafter, if the corporation or institution reduces its workforce in the United States and simultaneously increased its contractors.
